Oh I'm having so much fun! This year for NaNoWriMo I'm writing a Zombie-Vampire story! Woo hoo! I loves me a good zombie apocalypse. And you throw in vampires and it just gets better! Here's a quick and dirty synopsis of my story so far. keep in mind that it is a work in progress and that I have a deadline for completion -1 month! So if it's not the most well thought out prose...well then...now ya know why. But it sure is fun. Please let me know what you think. What seems compelling? What you want to know more about (so that I can write it!)

Throughout the centuries, mankind has lived in an an oblivious state of balance with the undead. Zombie plagues have sprung up from time to time. Their origins are as of yet, a mystery. The truth of the zombie plagues has been silenced. Hidden from common view through the works of another group of undead. -Vampires. Personal interests of survival, have made the vampires our protectors of sorts. When ever a zombie plague would spring up, the vampires would kill the zombies and make sure that any human survivors who knew of the truth would also perish. Rumors, folklore, and of course our deep love of science and knowledge is what has made it so easy for the vampires to make people believe that these plagues were nothing more than a “very strong illness”. The Black Death, the Great Plague of London, The Plague of Vienna...all of these are attributed to bubonic plague, but the truth of the matter is that they were all zombie outbreaks. The vampires have always needed humans to feed on. Protecting us has been nothing more than ensuring that their food source would continue on. But this time the plague has gotten out of hand. It has reached beyond the control of the vampires. Mankind is threatened to the brink of extinction. Zombies roam the earth hungry for their next meal. As do the vampires. Tempted by each survivor that they find the vampires must overcome their primal urges to feed. They must protect each and every rare human specimen and try to rebuild their food stock. Growing weaker by the month, the vampires fall into different groups. Fighting as the humans are over dwindling resources. Adam, an ancient vampire who has not fed in over 8 months, comes across a small pocket of humans initially saving them from the zombie hoards right outside their city walls, only to be abandoned to new hoards of flesh seeking zombies. The humans, not eager to be fed upon by either zombie or vampire lead Adam to his doom. Not knowing that by doing so, they are creating a new creature. An abomination by any standards. A zombie-vampire! For the first time, a new born zombie has the ability to convey his experience. Unlike other vampires, Adam can now endure the sunlight. And a new hunger, not only for blood, but for flesh comes over him. Returning home to his coven, Adam infects others...

Sounds like fun! I'm glad you're still steamin' along--even in the middle!
