Today Was A Good Day

Current mood:cheerful
It is cold tonight. I miss the warm balmy evenings we had earlier this week. Today has been a pretty good day. I am coming along nicely on my self portrait. I think I'll finish that up tomorow. I mixed all of my inks today for it. -Including the metallic gold. I warmed it up a bit with some orange and yellow. Even looking at the half finished product, I can tell that it does really look like me. It's kind of funny to have a bunch of poster sized prints around the house that look like you.
I got to hang with Leslie in class today. And I loaded her up with some organic veggies and Halloween candy to take home. It was good. She's such a joy to have as a friend. Consistently. -That's impressive.
Gordon and I talked about weightlifting again today. He's pretty funny.
And! I finally learned the name of this really cool girl in my class -HEATHER! She did an awesome print of herself as a tiger. I asked her for a copy. And she was actually quite complimented by that. I think she's really nice. ..Yet another person that I hope to be friends with.
I look at this and realize that it might seem a bit funny to some...I come across as a connoisseur...a collecter of fine friends. I learned this in Junior High from the Van Noy sisters. -They were the most popular girls I've ever known. They taught me how to choose my friends. Not to just take the ones that are given to me...the ones that come with no work. Choose. Look around you with open eyes...and see people for who they are. And cultivate friendships with the kind of people that you want to have as friends. So for me that would be interesting, smart, funny, cool, kind, and authentic people. I have some really great friends. I'm really lucky.
I got to talk with the Jessica girl for a bit. I miss her. And it's good to connect even if it's only for a bit.
I went out with Tim and we chatted over mexican food and my horchata. -Missed him too.
And I got to see Bree and Aidan tonight at his Halloween carnival at school. It was fun to see him all dressed up like a dragon and SO excited about the games and cupcakes and showing some little girl his costume. I think he might have a bit of a crush on her...he made me search all throughout the school with him for Isabella...to show her his costume. He didn't care if anyone else saw it. And then when we finally did find the fabled Isabella...She growled and roared at him like a wild beast! And he became the cutest, little shy bug in the world. He was suddenly very quiet about showing her his costume. Although I know he did want to...and he was very happy to be near her...even if he was behaving like a shy little bug. It was good to see Bree...and kiss her little dragon.
