Odd and pointless factoid: right now, my tee-shirt smells like cutter mosquito repellant. I actually love that smell. It reminds me of tromping through the jungle with Eva. We were 16, and it was the Amazon. We knew that we would be exposed to places with malaria, and neither one of us had bothered to see our doctors in time to start taking quinine pills before our trip. It sounds like I'm making this up...but really it's true. We took a dugout canoe up the Orinoco River. We saw Caymans, Tapirs, Monkeys, thousands of Parotts, and huge black Fruit Bats that swooped by our heads. We hiked in the jungle at night and encountered a Jaguar. (At least that's what our guide said. I didn't see it. He said it was in the tree above us. But the jungle is very difficult to navigate in the dark. It's so inky black, you can't see anything but the natural fosfurescents on the jungle floor from the decaying leaves and branches.) So. Because we were taking a risk by going to malaria infested areas without the proper medical precautions, we tempered that risk by slathering deet repellant all over us. I even put it on my feet (the bottoms.) Eva laughed at me and thought I was being too overly cautious. However, while we were there, some insect crawled inside her foot and laid it's eggs in her. Ha! Too overly cautious! My foot! hahahaha. Ok. that was gross. Sorry Eva. I just love that story. I think I'll tell it to my kids one day when they whine about not wanting to put on mosquito repellant. I'll whip out the old bug in foot story. Cutter also reminds me of summer camp. Hiking. Camping. And backyard BBQ's. Love it! Do you have any unusual smells that you love. You know. Things that other people might not appreciate but you do?
