Water Conservation Queen and Princess!!!

I just got off the phone with the city's water department. I honestly sweat how much water we use almost always. I find that I am very conscious of the water being on and try not to waste any. Hehe. So I had to ask the guy there how we are doing with our water usage and if it was more than it should be or just about average? I figured there was no point in stressing out about it if I didn't even check in to see where we were at with it...so...he told us that our water usage was extremely low. In fact...one of the lowest he had ever seen. We "couldn't be doing better" was the exact quote! YAY! I found out that the average usage for ONE person in summer is 5,000 gallons per month, in winter it's about 2,500 gallons. For TWO people it's 8,000 gallons in summer, and 4,000 gallons in winter. My mom and I use between 1-2,000 gallons per month -IN SUMMER! And we have a garden! I guess my investment in drought tolerant plants and low flow everything paid off! I'm so happy. Basically we use less water than ONE person in WINTER!!! WE ROCK with the water conservation! Here's to European showers! (Ya know...where you get wet, turn off the water, suds up, then rinse off!) I still feel like we could do even better! I have thought about watering our garden with greywater from our dishes or showers...but I don't know how I'd go about doing that...whatev! Maybe a rain barrel would be a good idea?
