I am totally happy. That is such a good feeling.
My coworker was sick today. :-( -Lamepants!
But I did just fine on my own today. Yay! Go me!
And I did get a ride home from my sweetheart of a friend, Heather. -Thanks Heather! You rock!
Once I got home, I quickly changed out of my work clothes and put on something I could go biking in. I dug out my old messenger bag from my closet (sometimes it pays to hold onto things you think you'll never use again) I shoved my jacket, broken headlight, and new bike seat in there, and peddled off to the bike shop; where I had my very UNCOMFORTABLE (seriously folks! It was uncomfortable in places that should NEVER be uncomfortable) ...anyhoo...I had my very uncomfortable bike seat replaced with my split saddle jell seat (made just for de wemens!)...I also had my headlight fixed, and bought some of those little lights that go on your wheels so that you are more visable. Yay! Go me!! I checked out my options for putting a rack etc. on my bike so that I could bike to work, and take the mail to the post office afterwards. (I'm working up to it! Booyah!) I had a little bit of sticker shock. $40 for the rack, and $100 for the frigging saddle bags. Hmmmmmm....must think about this first.....And I found out that toting my bike pump really is the best thing I can do for flats. (I was hoping to buy some slime and a Co2 cartridge) Meh. But the guy there told me that my pump was really the best thing. And sadly...In his opinion... Slime doesn't work. Meh.
I then biked to a friends house...and we all went for a ride to the frozen yogurt shop! It was fun. And I rode on Mendocino in the bike lane!!! That's actually a big deal for me. I also rode on College Avenue in rush hour trafic!! And on the sidewalk!! (-Breakin' the law!) I had a good time. And I'm getting much better. And more confident. I now need to get one of those bright yellow vests or jackets so people can see me better. I really just want to be safe.
I got home, and told my mom all about my adventure. She was so proud of me. She kept saying that. It felt good. We went for a nice walk and she was in such hight spirits. We sang "I Know What I Know" by Paul Simon together. And she was so happy that she just kept singing and even making up her own little song. Why she was so happy and vibrant, that she even did a little bit of a dance with her walker! Haha! It was fun. Then we had a good dinner together and listened to a little bit of a Bobby Kennedy speech. -I can really see why people were inspired by him. He was a really good man.
