Today...I made breakfast for the company meeting. Spurred on by a conversation I had with a peer the day before...I decided to break out of the mold and have a little fun. Making breakfast for 30-40 adults can be a little hard. No matter what you make...someone's not going to like it. And a few others will grumble a bit about it... So! I just brought what I would like...or more to the point...what I would feed my own mother. -That's the level of care I was giving to this venture. Health is important...you know...putting good fuel in the tank is important to start your day right. It also says "I love you" when you take good care of yourself.
I brought a yogurt parfait bar with: organic vanilla yogurt, flax granola, and assorted FRESH berries (strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries). For those who didn't like yogurt...I had a make your own oatmeal bar. I have come to love oatmeal, as I never thought I could. It's in large part because my mother loves oatmeal. If she doesn't like what I've made for dinner 9 times out of 10 oatmeal is her preferred alternative. I should just make a label that says "DINNER PLAN B" on it and stick it on the tin that I keep the oatmeal in. I've learned all sorts of ways to gussie up oats. My favorite way is to sprinkle some nuts and dried cranberries on top. So I brought some of those for my associates to do likewise. I also brought juice: tangerine. But the pièce de résistance was by far the Superfood. It was one part breakfast, one part joke, and one part just sharing me with the people I work with. I love Superfood. When I was a nanny I used to bring it to work with me. The boys that I watched learned to love it. One of them, Tommy, still drinks it to this day. He calls it his "green juice". The place that I work is really fun, but also very serious and at times conservative. Superfood is a little fringy. It was really funny watching all of these very serious people face the dark green sludge. -They did it like champions. -Most of them that is. Some...chickened out. Hahaha. Breakfast was a very fun event today!
